Johnava Dunn

Johnava Dunn, 73, of Zanesville, went to be with her Lord at 4:42 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2006, at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born on March 6, 1933, in Lamar, Arkansas, a daughter of the late Eli Dotson and Vesta Ann Stone Tilley. Johnava was a secretary at the Mosaic Tile Company, personal secretary for Clay and William Littick at the Times Recorder, and retired from the Department of Job and Family Services. After her retirement, she was a volunteer in the Zanesville City Schools, worked at Muskingum Livestock, served as a poll worker, and accompanied her husband to many of the local health care facilities, where he played music for the residents. A long time member of the South Zanesville United Methodist Church, Johnava taught Sunday school for over 45 years, sang in the choir, was president of the South Zanesville United Methodist Women, and was a UMW district officer for 8 years. She was an avid gardner and a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Surviving are her loving husband, Robert C. Dunn, whom she married July 26, 1951, of the home; a daughter, Judy (David) Fowls of Warsaw; a sister, Betty (Cecil) Newton of Zanesville; a brother, James (Betty) Tilley of Zanesville; two grandchildren, Erin (Adam) Stone of Centerburg and Jenna Fowls of Warsaw, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Leon Tilley, in 2003. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, November 7, 2006, at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, and one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 8, 2006, at the South Zanesville United Methodist Church at the corner of Pembroke and E. Main Street with the Rev. Joy French officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, near Sonora. The family requests that monetary donations be made to the So. Zanesville United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice, in lieu of flowers.
