Joseph L. McBride, 83, of Zanesville died at 2:21 P.M. Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House, Zanesville. He was born January 15, 1935 in Athens, a son of the late Capt. Joseph W. and Opal Gould McBride. Joe was a proud United States Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict on the Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska. During his high school years he was awarded 2nd Team Southeastern Ohio Athletic League (SEO). He worked for Western & Southern Insurance Agency where he was District Manager in Richmond, Indiana. Following that he moved to Zanesville where he worked in the insurance industry and later for Central Ohio Rural Consortium Job Training. Joe was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, charter member of Sertoma Club in Richmond, Indiana, was a member of The Western & Southern President Club in 1978 and Senators Club 1980. He was an avid golfer and was active in many leagues over the course of his years. Surviving are his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 63 years, Laile Lovett McBride, whom he married April 7, 1955; a daughter, Traci (Steven) Ellis; a son, Michael Joseph (Jennifer) McBride; four grandchildren, Lindsay (Nicholas) Pace, Meghan Ellis, Grey Joseph McBride and Halle Ann McBride; a brother, Ronald (Ruth) McBride; a sister, Marilyn (Daniel) Klingenberg; two brothers-in-law, David (Janet) Lovett and Loring (Beth) Lovett; numerous nieces and nephews; and his furry and loyal companion Kelly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara McBride. Friends and family may call from 10:00 A.M. till the time of Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Grace United Methodist Church, 516 Shinnick Street, Zanesville with Pastor Mark Chow officiating. He will be laid to rest at 3 P.M. Thursday, April 26, 2018 at West Union Cemetery, Athens with full military rites accorded to him by the United States Air Force, KT Crossen Post 21 American Legion, and the VFW Post 9893.
