Joseph Martin Norman, 94, of Zanesville, died at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Willow Haven Nursing Home. He was born September 30, 1915, in Zanesville, the son of the late Joseph M. and Berthana Johnson Norman. He graduated from Lash High School. His early employment was with The Line Material Company and the Simplex Engineering in Zanesville. He left Zanesville for employment at the Columbus Die Tool and Machine Co. He was an over-seas Army Veteran of World War II, when he was attached to the 762nd Railroad Battalion. In 1960, he returned to Zanesville where he owned and operated the Zanesville Burger Chef Stores until 1974. He was a 50-year member of the Capital City Lodge #656, a member of the Masonic Bodies of Columbus, Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus and Aladdin Temple Shrine. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Annabel Baker Norman of the home; a daughter, Berthana Ann Bernock of Clinton Township, Michigan; 3 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and a cousin, June Quinn Saunders and her children, all of Zanesville. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until time of service at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville with Rev. James Miller officiating.
