Joseph W. Batteiger

Joseph W. (Joe) Batteiger, 90, of Zanesville, died early Sunday morning at his residence. He was born February 15, 1916, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of the late Joseph and Plezza Bennett Batteiger. Joe was a retired machinist at the former Dana Corp. Surviving are a son, Joseph Wendell ( Claudia) Batteiger of Zanesville; a brother, Andrew Batteiger of Zanesville; two granddaughters, Deborah (Robert) Buzza and Leslie (Jeremy) Miller; two grandsons, Joseph (Diane) Batteiger Jr. and LeRoy Batteiger; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie G. Lunn Batteiger, who died May 13, 2000 and by three sisters, Myrtle German, Goldie Church and Dorothy Terral and one brother, Lou Batteiger. Friends may call 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at the funeral home with the Rev. Terry Rowland officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park.
