Joysan Spragg Hartmeyer, 55, of Zanesville, died at 10:08 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009 at The Ohio State University Hospital. She was born February 16,1954, in Zanesville, a daughter of Laura Keller Spragg of Zanesville and the late Richard W. Spragg. She was a member of Bloomfield United Presbyterian Church. Joysan graduated from Muskingum College where she had been president of The FAD Sorority. She later earned a Masters Degree in Education from Muskingum College as well. She started her career in teaching at Stormont Elementary School, then went to Perry Elementary School, and for the last 16 years, she has taught 7th grade Math at East Muskingum Middle School. Surviving in addition to her mother, are her loving husband, William L. Hartmeyer, whom she married June 13, 1976; two daughters, Betsy (Jason) Rosser of Zanesville and Abbey (Matt) Hanna of New Concord; a son Matt (Carly) Hartmeyer of Coshocton; two grandchildren, Clay Hanna and Jameson Rosser and one grandson to arrive soon, Luke William Hanna; a brother, Alan (JoEllen) Spragg of Rochester Hills, Michigan; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Corrine Hartmeyer of Zanesville and many extended family. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville and one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at New Hope Full Gospel Church, 3560 East Pike, Zanesville with Pastor Joe DiVincenzo officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park. Joysan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and teacher. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
