Juanita "Neenie" K. Mitter, 86, of Zanesville, died at 9:35 a.m. Sunday, April 5, 2009 at her home. She was born January 22, 1923, in Gauley Bridge, West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Catherine Nunley King VanFleet and the late Laird King. She came to Zanesville in 1940 and from the minute she stepped off the train and looked up Market Street and felt she was home and therefore, has resided in Zanesville the rest of her remaining life. She married Paul R. Mitter on September 21, 1940. He passed away April 21, 1991. She was a homemaker who enjoyed being at home, keeping the home in "good order" also, working with her plants and flowers in the home and in the yard. She loved receiving pictures and working with photo albums including pictures from the various places she had traveled with her husband and daughter. She also worked the crossword puzzle in the daily newspaper. She was considered, by many, to be a human encyclopedia as when her family and friends wanted to recall a date, happening or fact they could always count on her to remember the particulars. This ability remained with her until her passing. She was an inquisitive person (not as in prying but, with genuine care and desire for complete details whether it be subjects of world, local, current events or what was going on in the lives of her family and friends. She was a member of Coburn United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star #485, and a member of Lady Eagles Auxiliary #302. In the 1970's, she was a Red Cross Gray Lady volunteering at Good Samaritan Hospital. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Mitter of the home and Tux their pet cat and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville.
