Kathryn L. (Schaeffer) Johnson

Kathryn L. "Kate" Johnson, 96 of Zanesville, died at 12:45 P.M. Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Cedar Hill Care Center. She was born August 8, 1918 in Power, WV, a daughter of the late Frank and Laura Robinson Schaeffer. She retired in 1984 as a Teller at Mutual Federal Savings & Loan Bank, was a lifetime member of the Coburn United Methodist Church and a former Girl Scout leader. Kathryn played in a Euchre club for over 50 years and enjoyed bowling, dancing, golfing and recorded her first hole in one at age 72. She is survived by a daughter, Sandra K. "Sas" (Joe) Dougherty of Zanesville; three grandchildren, Chris A. Deal, Judy C. Deal Dovenbarger, and Karen M. Dorr; special great-grandchild Bryce Dovenbarger; step grandchildren, Sean (Liz) Dougherty of Rosswell, GA, Stacy (Aaron) Huelsman of Bellevue, MI.; step great grandchildren, Oscar and Otto Huelsman, Erin Dougherty and Annie and Grace Reichart; a sister, Myrtle (Michael) Cross McKay of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister in law, Glenna (Roy) Maxwell of Zanesville;; a niece, Linda (Duane) Ward of Laurel, MD, and special friend Nick (Shelly) Dorr. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence V. (Jake) Johnson who died December 8, 1993; a daughter Judy Johnson who died March 17, 1958. Friends and Family may call Wednesday February 18, 2015 from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, where services will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 19, 2015 with Rev. Webster Cox officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband Jake at Zanesville Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Coburn United Methodist Church at 3618 Maple Ave, Zanesville, OH 43701.
