Kenneth Lynn Grubbs

Retired Police Officer Kenneth Lynn Grubbs, age 68, of Cambridge, Ohio, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018. He was born June 28, 1950, in Cambridge, Ohio. In 1972, Ken graduated from the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy. Ken began his law enforcement career with the City of Cambridge Police Department in 1971 and continued for 27 years until his retirement in 1998. At the time of his retirement, he was the most decorated officer in the department, and the only employee in the city's history to receive the Gold Cross Award, awarded to those receiving a second multiple award and five subsequent awards. Ken's awards included: Gold Cross and Honorable Discharge, 1998; Golden Acorn, Gold Star, Silver Star, Exceptional Service, 1997; Gold Oak Leaf, 25 Years of Service, Exceptional Service, American Police Hall of Fame, Ready Commendation, 1996; Honorable Service and Officer of the Year, 1994, Drug Buster, 1990; Officer of the Year, 1977. After retirement, Ken worked as a bailiff for the Cambridge Municipal Court from 2004 to 2015. He was a dear friend and mentor to many Police Officers and other Law Enforcement Community members. He is survived by his son Samuel, his sisters Leona Devore and Sylvia Blackstone. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and former spouse Amy Kissinger Froehlich. He was preceded in death by Alva Grubbs (Father), Betty Anderson Grubbs (Mother), and James Grubbs (Brother). There will be a Celebration of Life service on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 3pm, at Trinity Baptist Church, 9260 Cadiz Rd, Cambridge, OH 43725.
