Kenneth C. Shuey

Kenneth C. Shuey, 93, of Zanesville, died at 1:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at the Oaks at Bethesda. He was born October 27, 1920, in Pleasant Valley, Ohio, a son of the late Harley W. and Ruth Gertrude Kreager Shuey. He was a 1938 graduate from Hopewell High School, served in the United States Army Air Force as a 2nd Lt. Pilot during World War II, had worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and Conrail, and retired after 41 years. He was a member of the United Transportation Union, American Legion, and Finley United Methodist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Carol Joseph of Westerville, Patricia (Lucien Jr.) Young of Zanesville, and Elizabeth (Duane) Eggert of Zanesville; a son John (Judith Cox) Shuey of Shelbyville, IN; two brothers, Robert (Marina) Shuey of CA, and Edgar (Lula) Shuey of Zanesville; two sisters, Leila Bates and Eileen Hinkle, both of Friendsville, OH; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law Donna Shuey of WA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Leona Jean Shuey, who died February 3, 2009; and brothers Herbert, Harold, Ernest, and Raymond Shuey. Friends and family may call from 2:00-5:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 27, 2014, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, and one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, April 28, 2014, at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, with Rev. Charles Norris officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Leona at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville, with full military honors being presented by the United States Army in conjunction with VFW George Selsam Post #1058. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Sterling Food Pantry: 8395 Hopewell National Road, Hopewell, Ohio 43746; or to Genesis Hospice-Morrison House: 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
