July 8, 1932 — December 5, 2015

Kenneth R. Wells Sr. 83, of Zanesville, was taken on to be with his loving wife Mary, at 3:45 A.M. Saturday, December 5, 2015 at his home. He was born July 8, 1932, in Belmont County, a son of the late Ernest R. and Wilda Walters Wells. Kenny never met a stranger, if he did, they were never strangers for very long. He began working for Squirt Bottling Company then was hired by Pepsi Bottling Company and then retired after 44 years at Owens Brockway Glass as a mold inspector on June 29, 1994. He was the caregiver for his beautiful wife Mary until December 14, 1994 when she passed away. To fill his time he obtained employment at First National Bank as a carrier where he retired after six months. Kenny then found the best job for his personality. He began volunteering at Bethesda Hospital (Genesis) . This was the light of his life. He delivered pharmacy for over twenty years. Kenny was known as "Coupon Kenny" (handing out Bath & Body Coupons) "Candy Kenny", as he always has a candy kiss for the "Girls" and lastly known as "Uncle Kenny." Each year he would gather pennies with the current year to give to parents of newborns as a keepsake. Kenny was the most generous man you ever met. Quick wit and ideas. No matter what idea you had he would help implement with improvement. He enjoyed having his many grandchildren and great grandchildren visit. "Papa" as he was called enjoyed babysitting the grand dog Max. Kenny never said No and wanted everyone to have a nice day. In 2013 when Zanesville was replacing sidewalks, with permission, he placed two pennies with the year 2013 into the new poured concrete near the Law Administration Building. Then, he placed two nickels in front of the Judge Hixson Building. He was known as the downtown Dad while waiting for his daughter to arrive for work. Kenny brought a Times Recorder for his daughter every day for over twenty years. They would chat, catch up on gossip, news and she gave him leftovers. Kenny was a member of Amity Lodge # 5 F&AM and the Amrou Grotto. His son, Kenny Jr. and grandson Kenny III came to the house weekly to do chores and chat with Kenny. He loved to his family and his extended family. Surviving are a son, Kenneth Wells Jr of Hopewell; a daughter, Pamela ( Wayne)Wells-Exline of Nashport; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; three sisters, Deloris Bronkar, Jo Ann Brown and Sandra ( Dick) McBride all of Zanesville.
