L. Jean Shuey, 83, of Zanesville, died at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Genesis Good Samaritan emergency room. She was born February 13, 1925, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Lewis and Virtue Baker Showalters. She graduated from Lash High School Class of 1943, was a member of Finley United Methodist Church, the Ladies Aid Society and WSCS. Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Kenneth C. Shuey, whom she married July 4, 1945, of the home; a son, John Allen (Judy) Shuey of Shelbyville, Ind.; three daughters, Carol Joseph of Westerville, Patricia (Luke Jr.) Young of Zanesville and Elizabeth Rath of Hopewell; 8 grandchildren, Erich (Betsy) Joseph, Patrick Joseph, Bethany (Pat) Renaud, Matthew Wagner, Michael Wagner, Erin (David) Robbins, Jessica Billy and Ryan Shuey; 3 great grandchildren, Lauren and Will Renaud and Owen Joseph; three sisters, Mary Bowers of Zanesville, Martha Davis of Columbus and Ethel Hurley of Plantation, Fla. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma Showalters and Blanche Wolf. Friends may call 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. today, February 5, 2009 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2009 at the funeral home with Rev. Charles Norris officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
