Laurel A. (Stewart) Burkhart

Laurel A. Burkhart, 76, of Zanesville, died at 1:57 A.M. on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House, Zanesville. She was born January 25, 1946, in Norwich, a daughter of the late Paul and Dora (McConnell) Stewart. She was a homemaker and babysat for over thirty years. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and CCL. Laurel always had children in her home and enjoyed baking, going to Church, meeting with friends for breakfast, and going to Amish Country.

She is survived by a daughter, Michele (Doug) Merriam, a son, David (Julie) Burkhart; two grandchildren, Tyler and Kaelin Burkhart; a great-granddaughter, Celeste Burkhart; a brother Roy (Maria) Stewart; and a sister, Sheila (John) Gilchrist.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence D. Burkhart who died June 19, 2021, and a grandson, Brandon Merriam.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 11, 2022 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 925 East Main Street, Zanesville with Father Jan C. P. Sullivan as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Zanesville.
