L. Dale McCallister, 87, of Zanesville, went to be with the Lord, at 5:35 P.M. on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at The Oaks at Northpointe, Zanesville. He was born July 20, 1935 in Pocatalico, West Virginia, a son of the late Leonard T. And Pansa G. (Lanham) McCallister. Dale was a 1954 Graduate of Lash High School, and a Pastor for fifty-five years, he was the founding Pastor of the Maranatha Bible Church and a mould maker at Lamb Glass Company in Mt. Vernon Ohio. Dale always had a smile on his face and enjoyed running, tennis, art, and a good meal. He was a man of his word with a great sense of humor, an encourager to all. He lived what he believed and practiced what he preached. Dale loved his family, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he offered them spiritual guidance and enjoyed traveling to watch them play sports.
He is survived by his beloved wife Joy (Shinn) McCallister, whom he married, November 29, 1958; two daughters, Rebekah (Thomas) Parks and Amy (Dane) Harris; four grandchildren, Lindsey (Austin) Durbin, Joel (Trista) Harris, Chase (Mara) Harris, and Aaron Harris; five great-grandchildren, Ashlynn Smith, Mason Smith, Isla Harris, Georgia Harris, Archer Durbin and one great-granddaughter on the way; three sisters-in-law, Shirley McCallister, Peach (Gene) Moore, and Alice (John) McFerren; and many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
In addition to his parents Dale is preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Ivan McCallister, Byron McCallister, Norman McCallister and a sister-in-law, Nancy McCallister.
Dale’s love for souls led him to travel internationally. He ministered in South America, India, and the Philippines, helping to establish Churches and reach the people of those countries. He loved to share his love and knowledge of the scriptures with anyone who would listen.
Friends and family may call from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE and from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, June 26, 2023, at the Maranatha Bible Church, 2400 Chandlersville Road, Zanesville, with Pastor Chris Brown officiating. He will be laid to rest at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Zanesville.
