Lena M. Shipman, age 99, of Zanesville died at 12:00 a.m. Sunday, March 6, 2005 at the Cedar Hill Nursing Home, Zanesville. She was born February 28, 1906 in Philippi, W.V. a daughter of the late Alonza and Julia Norris Kennedy. She was a member of the Park Street Church and was a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Missionary Society. She loved gardening, planting flowers and feeding birds. Surviving are one Daughter Judy "Goldie" Newman of Zanesville, two Grandchildren Beth (Michael) Chambers and Bryan Newman both of Zanesville. Two Great-Grandchildren Kaitlyn and Allison Chambers both of Zanesville and her sister, Margarette Adams of Zanesville. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Clyde F. Shipman on July 19, 1984. Also three sisters and eight brothers. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at The Union Tabernacle Church, 2425 Hartford Avenue, Zanesville where the funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, (March 9, 2005) with the Rev. Terry D. Newman officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery. Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home entrusted with all arrangements.
