Leroy L. Echelberry, Sr., 77, of Zanesville, went to be with the love of his life Monday, September 3, 2018, with family by his side. He was born December 29, 1940, in Zanesville, to the late Ralph and Hazel (Blackford) Echelberry. On October 27, 1978, he married the late Janice (Elmore) Echelberry and they raised a daughter, Mary Jo (Tim) Thompson and a son, Leroy Echelberry, Jr. He started to work at the age of fourteen on the family farm and surrounding farms. Leroy and his wife owned Greenwood Market for a short period of time. He ended his career being a bus driver and food service driver for Child Resources (Muskingum County Head Start) for over twenty-four years. He had a great passion for the children he hauled and served throughout the years. He touched many lives and had an ornery smile that you could not forget. He was a big teddy bear to most. In addition to his children, he is survived by his sisters, Helen Garrison and Marie (Bob) Wilson; sisters-in-law, Joann (Ben) Asano, Becky (Mike Cook) Lewis, and Jill Elmore; brothers-in-law, Richard (Don Duvall) Elmore and Roy Elmore; several nieces and nephews; a special great-niece, Trinity Durst; and his granddog, Widow.
