Lillian V. Durant, 90, of Hopewell, died at 5:42 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2009 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born June 6, 1919, in Coalton, Ohio, a daughter of the late Charles Arthur and Frances Griffith Norman. She retired after 22 years of service as a sales clerk for JC Penney, worked at Mosaic Tile and was a volunteer at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital for 20 years. She was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church. Surviving are a daughter, Kay Marlene (David A.) Johnson of Gahanna; two granddaughters, Erin Matthew and Julie Ann; three nieces, Judy (Bob) Lyle of Hopewell, Patty (Bob) Mac Lean of Zanesville and Janet Lanning of Brunswick, OH.; a nephew, Charles (Gayle) Hepler of Zanesville; and many great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph George Durant, who died in 1972; three sisters, Ruth Hepler, Anna Marie Lipps and Margaret Snyder; three brothers, Voris Norman, Sgt. Charles Norman and infant baby Norman; and a sister-in-law, Kathryn Norman Winneger. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville with Dr. Richard Boyer officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
