Lula Mae (Russell) Shuey

Lula Shuey, 90, of Zanesville, passed away of natural causes at her home on September 11, 2022.  She was born August 2, 1932, daughter of Harry Kellison and Susan Annetta (Chapman) Russell, at her grandmother's house in Zanesville.  She married Edgar Shuey on October 13, 1950.

Surviving are her loving husband, Edgar Shuey; daughters Deborah (Greg) Grove of Huntingdon PA and Anita Thompson of Zanesville; daughter-in-law Carol Shuey of Columbus. Also, 6 grandchildren: Laurie (Dennis) McGillicuddy of Reading Massachusetts, Lewis Grove of Waterbury Vermont, Daniel (Kristin) Shuey of Westerville, Douglas (Sarah) Shuey of Reading Pennsylvania, Sabrina (Daniel) Godfrey of Alpharetta Georgia, and Caleb (Jennifer Rose) Shuey of Westerville. And 10 great-grandchildren, Amelia and Vincent McGillicuddy, and Noah, Max, Lydia, Liam, James, Zain, Gwen and Elizabeth Shuey. Two sisters, Flora Hill of Zanesville and Shirley Drushal of Hopewell remain.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her son Carl Shuey, brother Robert Dean Russell, and son-in-law Larry Thompson.

Lula had many friends and enjoyed years of traveling to Pharr Texas for the winter. She was a member of Market Street Baptist Church.

A cremation will take place under the direction of Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home & Crematory with graveside services to be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Williams Cemetery, Zanesville with Rev. Howard Thompson officiating.
