Mabel Marie (Eppley) Sherrard,78, of Zanesville died at 12:50 a.m. Sunday, September 17, 2006 at her residence at The Apartments at Cedar Hills after a 4 year battle with Multiple Myeloma. Mabel was born September 17, 1928 in Philo, a daughter of the late Oscar Criswell and Evelyn (Dozer) Eppley She graduated from Philo High School in 1946 and recently attended her 60th class reunion. She married Donald "Sid" Sherrard on May 27, 1949 celebrating 50 years of marriage before his death in October 1999. She retired in 1995 after serving 25 years as a secretary for Zanesville City Schools with most of her years at Munson Elementary. A lifetime Lutheran, she was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Philo before transferring her membership to Zanesville in 1951.She was active in women circle, altar guild, and quilters. A member of Order of Eastern Star, she held positions of Worthy Matron, Secretary, Deputy Grand Matron, and District President. She belonged to Y-City Women's Club and enjoyed playing cards. She also served as a Genesis Volunteer from 1995-2002. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, reading, and the many Outer Banks vacations. She was blessed to have had many friends from Zanesville City Schools, the "Mall Gang", and church. She also very blessed with special caregivers, Carol Hamilton, Cheryl Faust and Alisha Valentine. She loved her friends and the very caring, compassionate staff at The Apartments at Cedar Hills. She is survived by three daughters; Linda (Rod) Hollingsworth, Donna Adornetto, and Kimberly (Craig) Spillman all of Zanesville, six grandchildren; Brad (April) Hollingsworth of Nashville, Tenn., Emily Hollingsworth of Pittsburgh, PA., Alessi and Nina Adornetto, Leanne and Chloe Spillman all of Zanesville, two brothers; Harold "Ben" Eppley of Deerpark, TX, and Wayne R. (Geraldine) Eppley of the Inn at North Hills; three nephews; Ken (Jackie) Nicol of Upper Arlington, Steve (Paula) Eppley of Tampa, FL., and Terry Eppley of Zanesville; and also many special cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a niece, Connie Eppley and a sister-in-law, Frances Eppley. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville and one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday September 21, 2006 at St. John's Lutheran Church 7th & Market Streets. The Reverend Frederich Weber will officiate. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park. A luncheon for all family and friends will follow burial at St. John's Social Hall.
