Margaret Forker

January 25, 1925 — August 17, 2013

Margaret A. " Peggy" Forker, 88 of Zanesville, passed away at 3:55 P.M. Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born January 25, 1925 in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Harry and Helen Hague Marsh. Peggy graduated from Lash High School Class of 1943. She retired as the Director of the West Main Street Senior Center in 1992, then went to work part time for Freedom Years at Century National Bank. Peggy and her husband Bill received the Sertoma Mankind Award in 1979 for entertaining the children at hospitals and Christmas parties as Sylvester and Tweety Bird. She received the Bob & Delores Hope award in 1985 for all the work she did to help other organizations fundraise. She loved to do fundraising for other organizations as well as the Senior Center. She raised money to pay-off the mortgage of the West Main Street Senior Center and to complete the re-decorating of the entire Senior Center, including purchasing all new tables and chairs. Peg was a member of American Business Women's Association- Y-Bridge Chapter, United Way and Lace up for kids; Surviving are two sons, William (Sandy) Forker Jr. and Thomas (Brenda) Forker, both of Zanesville; a daughter, Fran (Arthur) Riley of Zanesville; Eight grandchildren, Jim Riley, Tim (LeeAnn) Riley, Wendy (Bryan) Mettler, Chad Forker, Kelly(Tom Smith) Forker, Scott (Tina) Forker, Karri (Jesse) Wisecarver; and Scot Mathews; twenty-one great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren; two sisters, Jackie (Ernie) Johnson and Mary Lou (Charlie) Frame all of Zanesville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William H. "Bill" Forker Sr., who died November 18, 2009, and whom she married May 26, 1944; twin sisters, Betty Rittenhouse and Nancy Denbow and a brother, Robert Marsh. No calling hours will be held. A private inurnment will take place at Zanesville Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice in memory of Peg.
