Margaret A. "Peggy" Fink

March 15, 1929 — December 21, 2022

Margaret “Peggy” Anita Fink, 93, of Zanesville, died Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at her home. She was born March 15, 1929, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late William K. and Ruth M. Bowers Rait. She graduated from Lash High School, class of 1947, and worked at First National Bank before marrying her husband Charles and becoming a full-time wife, mother, and homemaker.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and attended Putnam Presbyterian Church.  During the 1950’s, Peggy was instrumental in establishing the first kindergarten in Muskingum County at Newton Elementary School. She was very civic minded and loved serving her community.  Peggy was a poll worker for many years, delivered Meals on Wheels for 12 years, and volunteered at the Hospitality Shop at Bethesda/Genesis Hospital for 40 years.  She and her late husband Chuck were members of the ZHS Band Boosters in the 60's when they began the waffle fundraiser, which still remains a major fundraiser for the band.

Peggy received her 50 year pin from the Muskingum Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star #485, and was also a member of Ladies’ Shrine, DAR, National Society of Early Quakers, 1st Families of Muskingum County, and Muskingum Genealogy Society.

She and Chuck loved to travel, and with their sons they visited all 48 of the contiguous United States, camping in a tent in most of them.  Peggy was an avid reader and patron of our local library.

Peggy is survived by her two sons, Douglas (Connie) Fink and Mark Fink, both of Zanesville; two grandsons, Ryan (Anna) Fink of Rittman, OH, and Nicholas (Nicole) Fink of New Concord;  four great-grandchildren, Cora, Martin, Paige, and Turner; and nephew Dale Hunsaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Charles, who died June 16, 2009; a sister Mary Lou Hunsaker; and a nephew Danny Hunsaker.
