Margie M. Appis, 97, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully in her sleep at 10:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at the Genesis Hospice Morrison-House surrounded by her family who loved her deeply. She was born June 2, 1927, in Warsaw, Ohio, daughter of the late Clarence and Verna (Shepard) McClain. Margie worked several jobs in her lifetime with her favorites being Manager of Beverlee Restaurant in Coshocton, as an LPN at Bethesda Hospital, and Night Secretary at Mid-East Adult Vocational School, where she retired the day before she turned eighty years old. She loved to bake cookies for her family, which led her to be affectionately called “Cookie”.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Moran, Karen Spearman, and Jonna (Bob) Sharp of Zanesville; grandchildren, Shawn (Vicki) Gilmore, J.D. Gilmore, Brian Sibert, Mandy Dotson, Dawn (Jason) Weller, Cherish (Zach) Bullard, Ric (Jen) Wears, and Shelby (Jason) Dillon, Todd Sharp, Matt Sharp, Adam (Kristen) Sharp; twenty-four great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her daughter, Fran Hammersley; six brothers; and one sister.
Per Margie’s wishes there will be no calling hours, a cremation will take place under the direction of the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
