Marie Helen (Zandlo) Fisher

Marie Helen Fisher, 91, of Heath, died at 11:10 P.M. on Thursday, December 12, 2013, at the Selma Markowitz Care Center-Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born April 4, 1922, in Fairpoint, OH, a daughter of the late Stanley and Alexandrene Salm Zandlo. She was a graduate of Hopewell High School and the Cameo Beauty School, and was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. Marie had been employed as a Manager and Beautician in several local beauty shops, and owned her own shop, Marie's Beauty Shop, in Gratiot. After closing her shop, she was employed as a Secretary/Receptionist for the Muskingum County Board of Education for 12 years, and after her retirement she reentered the work force as a Sales Person at Horne's and Emerson Dress Shops. She was an active volunteer at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House. For over the past five years Marie has made her home at Chapel Grove Inn, Heath OH, where they provided her with loving care. Surviving are a daughter, Deborah (David) Hickman of Pataskala; a son, John (Marcia) Fisher of Newark; five grandchildren, Brian (Amanda) Hickman of Westerville, Sarah (Jared) Dosch of Nashport, and Amanda (Gary Hargrave) Fisher of Zanesville, Alicia Fisher of Newark and Joseph Fisher of Newark; five great grandchildren, Caleb and Aubrey Hickman, Benjamin, Evan and Olivia Dosch; a sister, Alice (Whiten) Mauk of Zanesville; a brother-in-law, Gerald (Nancy) Fisher of Gratiot; God daughters, Ruthie Ware and Kathy Kibler; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband J. Eugene Fisher, whom she married February 16, 1946, and who died February 14, 1982; an infant brother, John Zandlo; and sisters, Augusta Gookins and Rose M. Porter. Friends and family may call from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville where the funeral will be held at 10:00a.m on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 with A Dominican Father officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband Eugene at Poplar Fork Cemetery, Gratiot.
