Marjorie Lavaughn (Vencil) Stoops

Marjorie Lavaughn (Vencil) Stoops, age 80, of Dresden Ohio, died at 6:34 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at the Genesis Bethesda Hospital, Zanesville, Ohio. She was born May 10, 1924 near Otsego Ohio the daughter of teh late L. Burwell and Orpha (Miskimen) Vencil. Mrs. Stoops was a 1942 graduate of Otsego (Monroe Twp. High School) and Meredith Business College. She worked in various offices in teh area. She was a Baptist by faith, a member of the Otsego Alumni Assn., and a member for over 50 years of the Eastern Star. She was a former member of the Dresden Grange, Jefferson CCL and Life Reading Club. Her hobbies were music and geneology. Surviving are her husband, Russell Stoops (whom she married October 4, 1947); one son, James R. Stoops of Hilliard, Ohio; two grandaughters, Laura J.D.) Reyes Sr. and Christine (Brett) Carothers of Hilliard, Ohio; eight great grandchildren, John David Reyes Jr., Jacob Reyes, Jamie Reyes, Joshua Reyes, Jaycee Reyes, Sidney Carothers, Sarah Carothers, and Matthew Carothers; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Alice Lee Mowry and a brother John Harper. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2004 at the Bolin Funeral Home 1271 Blue Ave, Zanesville Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July, 10, 2004 at the Bolin Funeral Home with the Rev. Ricci Arthur officiating. Burial will follow in the Dresden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Otsego First Baptist Church, 11770 Plainfield Rd., New Concord, Ohio 43762.
