Mark Stephen Thompson, 59, of Worthington, died in the early hours of March 22, 2014, at his home after a short illness. He was born November 15, 1954, in Zanesville, a son of Ronald J. and Jan Tanner-Thompson of Zanesville. He was a 1972 graduate of Rosecrans High School, attended Walsh College, graduated from Ohio University-Athens with a degree in political science, a United States Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War, and was owner and operator of Thompson Moving & Storage in Columbus. He enjoyed college basketball, especially March Madness, OSU basketball and football, Scrabble, euchre, reading science fiction, movies, cooking, being a father and grandfather, and spending time with his cat Lily. He is survived by his loving parents Ron and Jan Tanner- Thompson; four beloved daughters, Danielle Nicole (James) Barnes, Tiara Renee Singleton, Amanda Marie (Nathan Sprankel) Thompson, and Samantha Renee (Chris) Donohoe; ex-wife and friend Patricia Ann (Dwight Moore) Thompson; a sister Kathy (Danny) Warne; a brother Michael L. (Patricia E.) Thompson; special friend Karen Milstead; six grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a step-daughter Felicia Pina. Friends and family may call from 2:00-4:00 P.M. & 6:00-8:00 P.M. with a Vigil Service at 7:30 P.M. on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 144 N 5th Street, Zanesville, with a Dominican Father as Celebrant. He will be laid to rest at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Zanesville.
