Marshall G. Atwood

Marshall G. Atwood, 58, of Nashport, died Friday, June 30, 2006 as the result of a motorcycle and car accident. He was born November 26, 1947 in Concord, NH, a son of Edward R. & Sybil Gale Atwood of Palm Coast, Florida. He was the owner of Marshall G. Atwood State Farm Insurance Co. for over 24 years. Marshall was proud of his many insurance designations; CLU, RHU, CPU, CHFC and CFP. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of Vietnam and was a member of North Terrace Church of Christ. Marshall was a member of the Masonic Lodge, NRA, MENSA, a Shriner, member of Zanesville Country Club, former member of the board of Goodwill and American Red Cross, and was on the board of the Zanesville-Muskingum Co. Port Authority. He was an avid Harley Davidson Motorcycle and golf enthusiast, but his most proud accomplishment was his family. Surviving in addition to his parents, three sons, Scott (Jennifer) Atwood of Pittsford, Vermont, Chad Atwood of Palm Coast, Florida and Lance Atwood of Nashville, Tenn., a grandson, Zane Atwood of Palm Coast, Florida, two brothers, Joel ( Maureen) Atwood of Palm Coast, Florida and Craig Atwood of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Brenda Atwood of Zanesville, the mother of his children, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sara Elizabeth Atwood and by his loving companion, Deborah McClintock. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville where VFW George Selsam Post 1058 will hold full military rites at the funeral home at 8: 00 p.m. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at North Terrace Church of Christ with Bill Meaige officiating. A reception for family and friends will be held immediately following the service in the Fireside Room at the church In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Marshall may be made to the North Terrace Church of Christ, 1420 Brandywine Blvd, Zanesville, Ohio 43701
