Martha R. Jerles

. Martha R. Jerles, 74, of Zanesville, after a courageous battle with cancer died at 5:25 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2007 at her home. She was born April 5, 1933, in Guernsey County, Ohio, a daughter of the late Willard Raymond and Florence Ruth Hannah George. She retired after 25 years of service at National City Bank. She was a member of First Christian Church, a member of the Amrou Grotto Cauldron. Martha was an avid golfer and card player, who enjoyed traveling with her late husband. She was especially proud of her grandchildren and was always attending their sporting events. Surviving are a daughter, Beth (Randy) Spung of Zanesville; a son, Steven (Peggy) Jerles of Las Vegas, NV; five grandchildren, Sara Jerles, Katelyn Jerles, Ryan Clark, Abby Spung and Jonathan Spung; two sisters, Anna (Harold) Gillespie of Bellefontaine and Joan Hague of Sorento, Florida; a brother, Willard (Helen) George of Columbus; two sisters-in-law, Nancy (Gary) Williams and Dixie Jerles, both of Zanesville and many nieces and nephews and a special friend, Bill Taisey of Zanesville. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Jerles, whom she married July 26, 1953 and who died October 6, 1992; her step-father, Howard Duffey; brother-in-law, Dave Jerles and a nephew, Michael George. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2007 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville and one prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2007 at First Christian Church, 3000 Dresden Road with Rev. Dawn Remster officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park.
