Martin Fritz, 84, of Mt. Perry, died at 1:45 A.M. on Sunday September 10, 2017 at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House, Zanesville. He was born June 26, 1933 in Wooster, a son of the late Dr. Ward Fritz and Edith Jennings Fritz. Marty served in the United States Army from 1954-1956 with special service as a Big Band drummer. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree and Bachelor of Architecture degree from Kent State University. He was registered with the National Council of Architectural Boards and an Emeritus Architect in Ohio, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Florida. While living in Naples, Florida, he was the Project Architect for the Naples Philharmonic Performing Arts Center. He retired as Director of Architecture in 1998 while with Westinghouse Communities, Inc. in Naples Florida, as Director of Planning. Marty was a past member of multiple Masonic bodies. The Blue Lodge, Ebenezer, Chapter, Council and York Rite Commandery in Wooster, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite in Columbus, the Al Koran Temple in Cleveland, and past President (1979) of the Mansfield Ohio Shrine. Always sport minded, Marty was proud to have been a player on the Wooster High School Generals 1949 undefeated football team. He enjoyed golf, playing the drums, antique car restoration projects and was a private pilot. Over the years, he and Patty, hands on, remodeled at least a dozen homes. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Patty) Dunham Fritz, whom he married in 1953; two sons, Rodney (Brenda-Keegan) Fritz of Elizabethtown, NC and Michael (Mary Ann) Fritz of Mt. Perry; six grandchildren, Sarah Fritz and Samuel (Sharon) Fritz of Athens, Catherine (Nic) Glenbocki of Alaska, Jacqueline and Elizabeth Fritz of Wilmington NC; and Samantha Fritz (Fernando) Amorim of Atlanta GA; six great-grandchildren; sister, Katherine (Terry) Ewing of Wooster; and a brother, Carl Fritz of Pittsfield MA.
