Marvin R. (Dick) Ward, 87, of Zanesville, died at 6:00 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Adams Lane Care Center. He was born December 7, 1920, in Lost Creek, West Virginia, a son of the late Richard and Caroline Weaver Ward. He retired in 1981 after 35 years of service as an electrician for Armco Steel. He was a member of Finley United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #756 in Hopewell, Timber Run Grange, Muskingum Valley Beagles Club and was one of the founder's of the Falls Township Fire Department. He was a WWII Army Air Force Veteran, serving as a Staff Sargeant, 346th Bomb Squad, 462D Squadron in the South Pacific Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Stump Ward, whom he married November 24, 1944, of the home; a daughter, Linda (Dr. Donald) Twiggs of Callahan, Florida; two sons, Steven (Nancy) Ward and Michael (Mary Beth) Ward, both of Zanesville; a sister, Marian (Gordon) Archer of San Diego, CA.; six grandchildren, Christopher (Dr. Diana) Twiggs and Lisa (Douglas) Gates, both of FL., Thomas (Leslie) Ward and Steven (Brittany) Ward, both of Zanesville., Jennifer Hastings of Westerville, Ohio and Michael Paul (Jessica) Ward of Zanesville; ten great- grandchildren and two nieces and one nephew. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his step mother, Ida M. Ward and one sister, Betty Lee Wilson. Friends may call 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2008 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at the funeral home with the Rev. Charles Norris officiating. Burial will follow at Williams Cemetery. VFW George Selsam Post 1058 will hold full military rites at the gravesite.
