Mary E. Applegate

Mary E. Wiles Applegate, 89, of Zanesville, died at 11:20 a.m. Sunday, March 16, 2008 at Mount Carmel/St. Ann's Hospital, Westerville. She was born March 26, 1918, in Noble County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Henry and Lulu Oliver Orr. Mary was employed in the cafeteria for 12 years at the YWCA. Surviving are a daughter, Marlene (Rick) Derry of Columbus; a son, Ronald L. (Beverly) Wiles of Lancaster; three sisters, Opal Longley of Zanesville, Florence (William) Henderson of Charlotte, North Carolina and Bonnie (Devere) White of Racine, Ohio; four grandchildren, Jodi Wiles, Brent Derry, Lori (Craig) Miller and Jon Derry; six great-grandchildren, Misty Skeen, Jeremy Skeen, Logan Derry, Devan Miller, Garrett Miller and Audrey Miller. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold V. Wiles, who died September 21, 1963; her second husband, Robert Applegate, who died August 19, 1975; a sister, Ethel Henderson and three brothers, William, Leonard and Henry Orr Jr. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2008 at the funeral home with the Pastor Dean Cole officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
