Mary Francis Fenstermaker, 96, passed peacefully March 30, 2023, at her daughter’s home surrounded by her family. Mary was born November 7, 1926, in Shinnston, W.V. to Harvey and Margaret (Ashcraft) Lundell. She was second oldest of eleven children. Mary, affectionately named “GG” by many who knew and loved her, had a heart of gold, and put others needs ahead of her own. She was a person to give advice, especially to her daughter, “don’t worry about the things you can’t change.” Even though macular degeneration robbed her of her eyesight, she never complained or let it stop her from doing what she loved. She carried a deep faith in God, which got her through her amazing life.
Mary was a social butterfly and enjoyed playing cards and having luncheons in the Zanesville Women’s Club, Y-City Women’s Club and the once a month get together at the Heavenly Ham. She volunteered in the Hospitality Shop at Bethesda Hospital and was a member of the Bethesda Guild. Mary worked alongside her husband in his podiatry practice and many years for her brother-in-law, Taylor Powell at Powell’s Market. Until retirement she was employed by Lou’s Hallmark, where she met Donna Long and became close friends. In later years, Mary enjoyed sitting on her porch socializing with her most loved and helpful neighbors with an occasional beer. She loved talking with her many friends, especially, Marnie Hutchison, her best friend for over 65 years.
She was an avid follower of the Cincinnati Reds, which ironically the season opening was on the day she passed. She did not miss a game on TV or the radio. Also, a big fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family and her Thursday visits from Rosie.
Mary is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law Deborah and Hershel Craig Graham; her granddaughter, Kristen (Vince) Shover and her great-grandsons Landon and Colton; special sister Sandy Humphrey of Zanesville; Donnie and Bobby Lundell of Weston W.V.; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Allen and Sandy Fenstermaker; close family friend Dr. Charles Perry and also her constant companion “Boo”.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Dr. Robert C. “Bobby” Fenstermaker; her parents and siblings, Florence Powell, Phyillis Poland, Harry “Buck” Lundell Jr., Jack Lundell, Marjorie Vincent, Clark Lundell, and Betty Jean Lundell. Mary most certainly has reunited with her beloved sister “Bo” and brother “Buck” to dance the Jitter Bug for eternity.
The family would like to thank Dr. Brian Luft and staff, “her girls” at Sterling Silver Suites and most especially, Genesis Hospice for their incredible compassion and care they gave to Mary in her final days. Also George Koncar whom administered communion to Mary for many years and was a friend.
