Mary Jean (Myers) Holt

June 19, 1925 — April 21, 2011

Mary Jean (Myers) Holt, 85, of Frazeysburg, Ohio, known to all her family and friends as Jean, passed away into the presence of our Lord on April 21, 2011. Jean was born in Bethesda, Ohio, on June 19, 1925, to the late Guy E. and Edna S. (Hepburn) Myers and grew up and lived in the Zanesville area most of her life. Through God's providence, she met the love of her life, Elbert R. (Hardy) Holt, a young pitcher for the then Zanesville Dodgers, and they were married September 21, 1947. Their travels took them to towns such as Ashville, NC, and Greenville, SC, before moving to Frazeysburg in 1954 where they settled and raised a family. Jean was long actively involved with Muskingum County 4-H having taught many young ladies the skill of sewing and the importance of doing it right. As a long time member of the Frazeysburg Community Bible Church, Jean taught Sunday School, worked as a youth advisor, and served as Deaconess. Innumerable young lives were touched by her compassion and love. Jean is survived by her husband, Hardy, as well as by their daughter, Sue (Charles) Bell; sons Tim Holt and Bill (Kay) Holt; grandsons Will Holt, Phil Holt, and Josh McFerren; and her brother Bill (Patty) Myers. Predeceasing her were brothers David Myers, Warren Myers, and Dean Myers. There will be no visitation or public services. A memorial service will be held at a later date. If felt appropriate, memorial contributions are requested to be sent to either the Frazeysburg Community Bible Church or to the Muskingum County 4-H Foundation through the Muskingum County Extension Office. Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio is entrusted with all arrangements.
