Mary Helen St. John, 98, of Zanesville, died at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2014, at Primrose Retirement Community. She was born April 9th, 1916, in Columbus to the late Edward and Helen Leyde Marz. She graduated Lash High School 1934. Mary was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and a volunteer in several capacities; also a member of owls club, Chautauqua Reading Circle, Ladies of the lake and Primrose book club. She worked several years in the medical field and 30 years with her husband Dr. Frederick St. John. Mary was an avid reader and "Buckeye's Fan" and enjoyed arts and crafts. Surviving are her sons, Daniel (Gloria) Riehl of Zanesville and James (Celia) Riehl of Surprise, Az; a daughter in law, Gail Riehl of Walnut, CA.; a stepson Frederick(Diana) St. John III of Westerville; six grandchildren, Tammie (Scott) Colosky of Baltimore, Jennifer (Jamie) Young of Sunbury, Brendan (Jessica) St. John of Pleasanton, CA., Steffanie Saint John of Colorado Springs, CO., Donn (Lorraine) Saint John of Manchester, UK, AFW "Murphy" Saint John IV of Gahanna, eleven great-grandchildren; and three very special friends, Bea Brown, Jeanette Hennessy and Shirley Anderson; whose care and concern was a blessing in her later years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Frederick St. John; a son, Robert Riehl; a grandson, Mark Riehl and a stepson, Donn Saint John. Honoring Mary's wishes there will be no viewing, a memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at St. James Episcopal Church, 155 N. 6th Street, Zanesville, OH 43701 with Father Robert E. Willman and Pastor Tom Myers officiating. Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, OH is entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution maybe made to St. James Episcopal Church. 155 N. 6th Street, Zanesville, OH 43701. She will be remembered for her generous nature and her smile.
