Mary L. Murrey

Mary L. Murrey, 92, of Zanesville, died at 10:20 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2009 at Cedar Hill Care Center. She was born May 30, 1916, in Salamanca, New York, a daughter of the late John T. and Myrtle Wilson Droney. She graduated from the University of Buffalo as an RN. She was a member of the Finley United Methodist Church and the Ladies Aid, the United Methodist Women, Muskingum River Garden Club, the Good Samaritan Charity Circle and the PTO's and PTA's at West Muskingum Schools. Surviving are three sons, Charles A. (Cheryl) Murrey Jr. and Jeffrey A. (Jennifer) Murrey, both of Zanesville and Douglas A. (Debbie) Murrey of Schoolcraft, Michigan; 6 grandchildren, Greg (Jenny) Murrey, Charles (Mellissa) Murrey, Julie Murrey, Jeff Jr. (Allison McCellan) Murrey, Douglas Murrey, MD, and Darren Murrey; 8 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Donnie Murrey; a granddaughter, Beth Dwenger; three brothers, John, Charles, and Paul Droney; four sisters, Eleanor Zafron, Dorothy Griffin, Jane Balus and Laura Droney; and her former husband, Charles A. Murrey, MD. Friends may call from noon until service time at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2009 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville with Rev. Charles Norris officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Finley United Methodist Church, 4455 Pinecrest Dr., Zanesville, Ohio, 43701.
