Mary Virginia (Stine) Peters, 88, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully at 4:45 a.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at the Helen Purcell Home. She was born February 22, 1920, in Zanesville, a daughter to the late William Leroy and Helen A. (Baker) Stine. She lived most of her life in Zanesville where she retired as a secretary for Modern Woodman of America, was an amateur organist playing at local rest homes, was a volunteer at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House and a receptionist at the St. Thomas Parish Center. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Girl Scouts Board of Directors, YWCA, the Y City Women's Club and she was also V.P. of the Girl Scouts Counsel. Surviving are three children, G. Joseph (Nancy) Peters of Indianapolis, IN, Dr. Gail P. Brayden of Marquette, MI and Hon. James W. (Kay) Peters of Woodsfield, OH; seven grandchildren, Renee (Daniel) Schauer of Cincinnati, Alan Peters of Denver, CO, Kathryn (Peter) Hoying of Cincinnati, Janise Peters of Cincinnati, Jessica Peters of Indianapolis, IN, James (Desiree) Peters of Woodsfield and Kylie (Kent) Keitch of Columbus and three great-grandchildren, Bradley and Elizabeth Schauer and Lainey Peters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George J. Peters, whom she married in 1941 and who died January 16, 1995. Calling hours will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2008 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 27, 2008 at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 130 W. Fifth St., Zanesville with Father Luke Turon, O.P. as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 130 W.
