Mary Foley Reavley, 94, of Zanesville, died at 9:45 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2010 at her home. She was born July 4, 1915, in Norwich, Ohio, a daughter of the late Henry Sheridan and Ada Mock Foley. She attended Norwich Elementary School, graduated from New Concord High School and graduated from Meredith Business College of Zanesville and attended Muskingum College . Mary was the personal secretary to the Dr. Robert N. Montgomery, president of Muskingum College and also was the personal secretary to Dr. J. Knox Montgomery, then Vice-President of Muskingum College. Mary had been the co-owner and operator of the Roy Theatre in New Concord. Mary was an honorary life member of National, State and Local Parent-Teacher Associations and the Board of the United Way of Muskingum, Morgan and Perry Counties for 52 years. President of the Board of the Muskingum County Senior Services Advisory Council Inc. for 49 years, where she served as president for four terms. She was a member of the Area Agency on Aging, Region #9 for nine years, Senior Bethesda Hospital League for 33 years, where she served as secretary, the Muskingum Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star #485 for 10 years, the Board of the Muskingum County Senior Center, where she served as past president of the board four times, the Policy Committee for the Muskingum County Republican Club, where she served as Republican Ward Committeeman four times, Muskingum County Women's Republican Club and the United Methodist Church. She was past president of the Muskingum Unit American Cancer Society, serving two terms, Grover Cleveland PTA, Zanesville Muskingum County Council PTA for eight years, Citizens Advisory Council to Juveniles for ten years, where she served as chairman of the Dedication Committee for the new building on Putnam Avenue, the Senior Center-four times and of the Board of Community Action for nine years. She was Chairman of the Muskingum County Prisoner of War Campaign. She was past District Director for the Ohio Congress PTA for 15 years, serving 10 counties and Districts 18 and 10, until she retired in 1972. She was secretary of the board for the Salvation Army and served as a past president, serving for 38 years. She was a past Chairman of the Home Nursing Committee of the American Red Cross-Muskingum County Unit. She was a District Director of Districts 18 and 10 until she retired in 1972. She was a past member of the board for the Y.W.C.A., West Side Community Center for nine years, Auxiliary FOE #32, Zanesville Area Chamber of Commerce, the Business and Professional Women's Club and Zanesville City Council-At-Large for twelve years, retiring January 1, 1992. Surviving are two sons, Bruce H. (Patsy) Reavley of Zanesville and Maurice A. Reavley of East Fultonham; seven grandsons, Morey Jr., Timothy, Kenny, Simmy, Ray II, Scott and Tim; twenty great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two nephews, Jim (Doris) Allen of Norwich and Phil (Anita) Allen of Columbus; twelve grandnieces and nephews; and special friends, Bev Taylor, Mary Lou Swingle and Jeff (Mel) Mallett of Zanesville, Jim (Linda) Miller, Betty LeVan, Mel Hutmire and Sheriff of Perry County, Randy Baker, all of New Lexington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond H. Reavley I; two sisters, Katherine Foley Allen and Anna Ruth Foley Bravard; a brother, Dr. James M. Foley; and a grandson, Jeffrey Lyndon Reavley. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville with Pastor Joy French officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services.
