Maxaline M. Garen, 90, of Zanesville, died at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Willow Haven Care Center after a brief illness. She was born April 14, 1921, in Muskingum County, the elder daughter of the late Noel and Alta Mae Davis Oliver Daringer. Maxaline was a civilian employee for the Navy during WWII working in the contract office. She married Argel A. Garen in 1949 and together, they were the first antique dealers in the "Old Towne Antique Mall" which opened in 1987. Surviving are a niece, Camellia (John) Buschman of Anchorage, AK; and two nephews, Stephen (Joyce) Crozier of Anchorage, AK and Marc Crozier of Eugene, OR., who remember their aunt as a fine Christian woman with a zest for life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Argel A. Garen, who died August 20, 1990; and a sister, Vivian L. Webb, who died May 17, 2007. No calling hours will be observed.
