Merle D. Morrison, 84, of Zanesville, died at 7:50 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born November 4, 1923, in Rose Farm, Ohio, a son of the late Edward and Bertha Bailey Morrison. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and retired after 28 years of service as a conductor for Conrail Railroad. Merle was a World War II Navy Veteran, a lifetime member of VFW George Selsam Post 1058, Amity Lodge #5 F& AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge and Amrou Grotto # 45. Surviving are his loving wife, Emilene Coury Morrison, whom he married May 31, 1953, of the home; two daughters, Patricia Carr of Platt, Alabama and Deborah (Jack) Fraunfelter of Columbus; a sister, Frances (Charles) Gossman of Zanesville. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Leota Buckley and Christine Peyton and four brothers, Arnold, Harold, Glenford and Donald Morrison. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2008 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville, where Amity Lodge #5 will hold masonic services at 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2008 at the funeral home with Rev. Kathryn P. Clausen officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by VFW George Selsam Post 1058 will take place at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
