New Concord

On the morning of September 23, 2021, Michael G. Allen 60 of New Concord earned his angel wings at The Ohio State University Medical Center of complications from liver transplant surgery, overlooking one of his favorite places on earth, “The Shoe” at The Ohio State University. Michael was born to the late Daniel and Norma (Nunley) Allen on March 28, 1961, in Zanesville, Ohio.

He worked at The New Bakery Company of Ohio. He was a member of Sons of the American Legion and the Street Survivors Car Club and was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. He enjoyed showing and going to cruise ins with his Mustang GT 5.0 whom he lovingly called Black Beauty. He also adored spending time with his family and rooting on The Ohio State Buckeyes and Buffalo Bills.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-one years Vicki (Hardy) Allen. They were married on October 20, 1990 although there were many bumps in the road they agreed that it was the happiest years of their lives. He is also survived by daughters Kelley (Darren) Rutherford, Stacey (Tom) Labaki, Shannon (Eric) Moore and sons Ryan (Theresa) Russi, Robb (Susan) Russi. Grandchildren, Jordan (Megan) Dunnington, Makenzie (Nate Zinser) Dunnington, Ashley Labaki, Haven (Joel Marchionna) Labaki, Hudson Moore, Brie Russi, Baye (Jake Rogers) Russi, Jettsyn Russi,  Dominic Meznarich, Audreena Russi, Saydee Russi, Diesel Allen Goodrich-Rutherford, Mason Allen Rutherford and Everlee Rose Mary Rutherford. Great-grandchildren Bentley Reed, James Ray Dunnington, Tyler Michael Dunnington, Sailor Catherine Lynn Zinser, Trulee Dawn Hreha, Bexlee Summer Hreha. Siblings Connie (Allen) Hardcastle and Daniel (Donna) Allen. Mother-in-law Mary Lou Hardy. Sisters-in-law Robin Hood and Karen (Mike) Ross. Nephews Tyler and Hayden Hardcastle and many loved nieces, nephews and cousins. Many special friends who were like his brothers and sister. His beloved pets Rylee, Deke and Daisy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Norma Allen, his father-in-law Robert L. Hardy, uncle Lawrence Allen and his grandparents.

Friends and family may call from 2:00 – 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, September 27, 2021, with Fr JCP Sullivan officiating.  He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville.

All are welcome to wear their favorite OSU clothing. Masks and social distancing are requested.
