Michael Eugene “Pappy” Burford, 68, of Zanesville, died at his home surrounded by his loving wife and his daughter Jessie, at 7:50 P.M. on Monday, June 14, 2021. He was born April 23, 1953, in Columbus, a son of the late Franklin D. and Mary D. (Day) Burford. He was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War and was the former owner of Pappy’s Towing. He was from St. Louisville, Ohio and drove semi-truck for over thirty years. He owned his own race car and loved racing at Muskingum County Speedway and Midway Speedway, Crooksville.
He is survived by his wife, Penny S. (Swick) Burford whom he married August 7, 2010; two daughters, Tisha and Christy Burford; a son, Michael (Jesse) Worthy; a step-daughter, Jessie (Luke) Miley; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Tom Burford; a sister, Kathy (Randy) Whisner; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dave Burford.
A cremation will take place with no calling hours or services to be held at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
