Michael A. Hayes, 61, of Zanesville, passed away at 10:26 P.M. Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House after a long fight with cancer.He was born April 17, 1953 in Zanesville a son of Margaret "Mag" E. Pitts Hayes of Zanesville and the late Welcome A. "Junior" Hayes. Mike was a graduate of Philo High School class of 1971, was associated with First Christian Church and later began his career as a regionally renowned airbrush artist and was the man behind Mike Hayes Customs- a mobile sign painting/lettering/pin stripe business for 45 years. Mike received the Welcome Hayes Award in 2013 and was the coach of the Special Olympics Basketball Team and led the team to the the State Championship in 2013. Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife, Beth Meadows Hayes, whom he married January 31, 2009, his children, Shelly (Tony Nguyen) Hayes, Tiffany (Keith) Arnold, Mikey (Alicia) Hayes, Josh (Amber) Hayes, and Aimee ( David Nilson) Hayes and his step children: Kelly Mason, Tai (Josh Finney) Loughman, and Katie (Robbie Riggins) Loughman. He is survived also by 10 grandchildren: the oldest, serving in the U.S Army E-2, Jorden Williams, Dallas Hayes, Kaid Arnold, Mylee Arnold, Gavin Loughman, Zoe Hayes, Oliver Nguyen, Lorelai Finney, Rahley Riggins and Graciee Hamilton; a sister, Marsha (Larry Miller) Hayes and a brother, William "Billy" Hayes and his father- in- law, Art (Dee) Meadows In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Emmitt Hayes, Hazel Hamilton Hayes, Harold "Bart" Pitts and Ruby Tousley Pitts and his mother-in-law, Lana Meadows. Thursday, August 7, 2014 with Rev. Terry Tate officiating. He will be laid to rest at Chandlersville Cemetery, Chandlersville.
