Michael Richard "Mike" Myers

Michael Richard "Mike" Myers, 75, of Zanesville, died at 12:57 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born July 8, 1936, in Toledo, Ohio, a son of the late Richard and Clara Lockwood Myers. He retired after 32 years of service for Ohio Bell Telephone and Kaiser Permanente. He was a member of North Terrace Church of Christ, Telephone Pioneers of America, Zanesville Rifle Club and was President Elect for Friends of the Library Association. He was a former member of the YMCA and Zanesville Sertoma. As a Pioneer Project, Mike was co-creator of a chirping Easter Egg for blind children and was invited to Washington DC to attend their annual Easter Egg Hunt at the mall. He enjoyed his family, riding motorcycles, hunting and traveling. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Jackie Uhrman Myers, whom he married December 28, 1957, of the home; two sons, Kevin Myers of Fort Mill, SC and Patrick (Angela) Myers of Indianapolis, IN; 3 grandchildren, Joshua Myers, Jacquelyn (Jacob) Hovis and Michael Myers; 3 great grandchildren, Taylor, Lyndsie and Jayne; 2 brothers, Tom (Kathy) Myers and Terry (Nawal) Myers, both of Toledo, OH; a sister, Sue Myers of Columbus, OH; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his companion, Riley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Shawn Myers. A Celebration of Michael's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2011 at North Terrace Church of Christ, 1420 Brandywine Blvd., Zanesville with Mr. William Meaige officiating. Friends and family may call one hour prior to services at the church. Michael will be laid to rest at a later date at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
