Mildred L. Clapper, 97, entered the gates of heaven on March 19, 2022, surrounded by her adoring family. She was met at the gates by her husband and youngest son, and we have no doubt the reunion was one for the ages. She was born July 15, 1924, in Shawnee, daughter of the late Alva G. and Mary Potter Coon. She volunteered at Genesis Hospital for 42 years and was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Zanesville, Ohio. Mildred was a member of Eastern Star Chapter #52 where she served as a Worthy Matron in 1970 and Deputy Grand Matron of District #16 in 1978. Millie will be remembered for her independent attitude and love for her family. She was so much fun and was up for any adventure presented to her. She lived on her terms up until her 97th birthday when she was no longer able to safely live alone. She loved her family like nothing else, and the memories we have of our mother and grandma will last a lifetime.
She is survived by a daughter, Margaret (Robert) Parker; sons, Tim (Nancy) Clapper and Jeff (Joan) Clapper; daughter-in-law, Peggy Clapper; eight grandchildren, Julie (Dwayne) Calder, Jenna (Dean) Acklin, Mike (Brooke) Parker, Ashley (David) Wendell, Alex (Emily) Clapper, Shane (Tiffany Lewis)Clapper, Jamie (Josh) Boylan and Aaron (Justin) Clapper and ten great grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth Hartmeyer and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her loving husband W. Myron Clapper who died on January 3, 1991, her son, Eric A. Clapper; two sisters, Evelyn Early and Eileen Kuhn.
