Myrna L. (Huffman) Iden

Myrna Loy (Huffman) Iden, 85, of Newark, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord, Jesus Christ at 10:15 P.M. on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House surrounded by her family. She was born February 8, 1930, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Ralph U. and Wilma A. (Graham) Huffman and grew up most of her life on the Adamsville Road. After graduation from Lash High School and working at Cussins & Fern in downtown Zanesville, she married Darrell V. Iden on March 2, 1952, moving to Gratiot and becoming a supportive farmer's wife and mother. She was an active member of the Gratiot United Methodist Church where she was active in the choir and Esther Circle, as well as the National Trail Farm Bureau Advisory Council, and a volunteer with Genesis at the former Bethesda Hospital for nearly 20 years. She loved to attend her grandchildren's ball games, make cross stitch crib blankets for anyone having a new baby, and cook wonderful food for ailing friends or a bereaving family. She had a true servant's heart. In addition to her husband Darrell V. Iden, she is survived by her three sons and their families, Ronald and Cindy Iden of Pickerington, Jeffrey and JoEllen Iden of Gratiot and Roger and Gina Iden of Gratiot; her grandchildren include, Ashlee and Bryan McAfee of Pickerington, Janel Iden of Richmond, IN, Jay and Tomra Iden of Kirkersville and Jacie and Mark Simon of Peebles; great grandchildren Brandon and Brylee McAfee. She also leaves behind special nieces Melodie and Corley Thomas, Mollie and Doug McCullough, and Martha and Mike Willet, nephew Roy and Rita Carpenter, and a host of other dear family members. She will be missed by numerous friends and her church family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Leatrice Joy and husband Raymond "Jim" Reed; and her parents-in-law Vernon and Ethel (Loughman) Iden. Friends and family may call from 5:00-8:00 P.M. on Friday, July 31, 2015, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, and one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at Gratiot United Methodist Church, 345 South Street, Gratiot, with Pastor Matthew Blau officiating. She will be laid to rest at Poplar Fork Cemetery, Gratiot. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gratiot United Methodist Church: 345 South Street, Gratiot, Ohio 43740.
