Nancy S. (Pepper) Cockrell

Nancy S. Cockrell, 72, of Zanesville, died at 4:45 A.M. on Friday, February 21, 2014 at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House. She was born August 5, 1941, in East St. Louis, Illinois, a daughter of the late James and Thelma Brinson Pepper. She was a scheduler for training pilots at U.S. Air, a member of the Zanesville Christian Missionary Alliance. Surviving are a son Jim (Amy) Still-Pepper of Zanesville; grandson Dylan Still-Pepper; granddaughter Taylor Still-Pepper; two sisters, Sharon (Alban) Wheeler of Moorehead, KY, and Janice (Ron) Ross of Stoney Point, NC; and a brother Maxie (Jan) Pepper of Lancaster, SC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Marilyn Griner; and a brother-in-law David Griner. James 1: 2&5- "Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way consider it an opportunity for great joy. If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking." This was a verse that was dear to Nancy's life. Those that knew her well could agree these verses were seen in her. Through most of her later years she was plagues with pain and illnesses, but she never asked for help, except from God. Everyone could see she was independent yet dependent on God. Her family meant everything to her and will miss her. All of her crafty ideas and love will be missed but her family is comforted that she is standing by the side of God. Friends and family may call from 11:45 A.M. to 1:45 P.M. with the funeral service at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, February 24, 2014, at Zanesville Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, 545 Richey Road, Zanesville, with Pastor Ron Ross officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Zanesville Christian & Missionary Alliance Church for a special missions fund.
