Ophelia Hernandez Hiestand, 64, of Zanesville, died at 5:05 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2009 at The Ohio State University Medical Center. She was born March 17, 1945, in Rio Hondo, Texas, a daughter of the late Librado Villanueva and Juanita Lopez Hernandez. She graduated high school from Rio Hondo High School Class of 1964, attended Durham's Business College in Harlingen, Texas, and Ohio University-Zanesville. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. She had worked in the personnel department for Bethesda Hospital in Zanesville and as a real estate agent. She was a ZAP member. Surviving are two sons, York R. (Jennifer) Hiestand and Cody L. Hiestand, both of Zanesville; four brothers, Ecio (Song) Hernandez of Shelby Township, Michigan, Amadeo (Norma) Hernandez of Rolling Meadows, Illinois, Librado (Elia) Hernandez of Harlingen, Texas and Andres (Minerva) Hernandez of McAllen, Texas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Bruce Hiestand, whom she married July 22, 1970 and who died December 18, 2007. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2009 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 144 N 5th St., Zanesville with a Dominican Father as celebrant. A private burial will be held at 9:00 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2009 at Woodlawn Cemetery.
