Orville O. " Jack " Spangler, Jr., 88, of South Zanesville died at 7:10 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2005 at Genesis Extended Care & Rehab Center. He was born June 2, 1916 at New Lexington, a son of the late Orville O. Sr. and Ora Etta Moore Spangler. He worked for Burley Pottery as a jigger, was a World War II Veteran, member of The Country Music Hall of Fame of Muskingum County and a member of The Melody Lads Band. He is survived by four sons, Thomas (Pamila) Spangler of Roseville, Jack (Joy) Spangler, O. Bill (Jeane) Spangler and Tony (Barbara) Spangler all of South Zanesville, a sister, Vivian Larrison of Columbus, eleven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Alice V. Spangler, who died December 30, 1992, son, Terry Lee Spangler who died at birth, two brothers, Harold and Bobby Spangler and three sisters, Esther and Thelma Spangler and Mary Jane Peterson. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2005 with minister Brad Giffin officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Zanesville. VFW George Selsam Post 1058 will hold full military rites at the graveside.
