Oscar W. (Towbar) Samson Jr., 76, of Zanesville, died at 5:04 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at the Genesis Good Samaritan emergency room. He was born August 27, 1932, in Philo, a son of the late Oscar W. Sr. and Rose Buck Samson. He was a retired truck driver for Bremen Fiber Glass. He was a member of the Rolling Plains United Methodist Church and was a United States Army Korean Conflict Veteran. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Edna M. Scott Samson, of the home, whom he married February 5, 1954; four daughters, Peggy S. Sims of Crooksville, Sharon K. Samson of Chesterhill, Rose M. Farmer of South Zanesville and Mary K. (Jacob) Hennes of Hilliard; three sons, Roger (Carla) Samson of Zanesville, Robert Samson of Adamsville and William D. (Judy) Samson of South Zanesville; two sisters, Kathyrn Parrill of Zanesville and Wavaline (Carl) Coleman of Philo; two brothers, Raymond (Betty) Samson and Robert Dale (Joyce) Samson, both of Zanesville; 22 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children; five sisters; and a brother. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2009 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the funeral home with Pastor Brian Law officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery. VFW George Selsam Post #1058 will hold full military rites at the gravesite. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to defray funeral costs.
