Otis B. House Jr.

Otis B. House Jr., 88, of Zanesville, died at 8:25 A.M. on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at the Cedar Hill Cancer Center. He was born November 5, 1927, in Zanesville, a son of the late Otis B. Sr. and Estella Place House. He was a World War II United States Air Force Veteran, was a driver for George P. Freuh Sheet Metal for 20 years, and retired after 28 years of service with the City of Zanesville Fire Department. He was a member of American Legion Post #29 for over 50 years where he was named "Legionnaire of the Year" in 2010, was inducted in the Muskingum County Veterans Hall of Fame in 2008, and in 2010, Otis and 70 other World War II veterans were flown on the "Honor Flight for WWII Veterans" from Columbus to Washington, D.C. He is survived by a step-daughter Molly Roberts (Ron Triplett) of Zanesville; a stepson David Hutchison of Zanesville; a very special friend Vera Kish of Zanesville; five grandchildren, Brandy (Mark) Roberts, Fudd (Heather) Roberts, John (Jessica) Hutchison, Mike Hutchison and Stacy Hutchison; twelve great grandchildren, Morgan Taylor, Mark Taylor II, Logan Roberts, Luke Roberts, Lane Roberts, Angeliah Wilson, Alex Wilson, Daxton Hutchison, McKena Hutchison, Isabella Hutchison, Alyssa Hutchison and Otis Hutchison; and one great great grandchild Kyler Alexander. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Donna Goodhart House who died January 8, 1993; two brothers, Frank Alton House and John Robert House; and a sister Juanita Forsythe. Friends and family may call from 2:00-4:00 P.M. & 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Monday, April 4, 2016, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, with Pastor Dean Cole officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Donna at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville, with full military honors being presented by the United States Air Force in conjunction with VFW George Selsam Post #1058 and American Legion Post #29.
