Palmer B. Calihan, 66, of Lancaster, died at 5:46 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2009 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born July 17, 1942, in Zanesville, a son of the late John B. and Dorothy Adams Calihan. He graduated from Adamsville High School Class of 1960 and Cum Laude from Franklin University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. He retired as a communications engineer for AT&T. He was a member of New England Lodge #0004 F&AM of Worthington, Ohio, The Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Ohio, Horace W. Wright Chapter #226 of Worthington, Ohio, Telephone Pioneers Club, Silver Star Strutters Dance Club, was President of the Worthington Squares Square Dancing Club and the Meadow Ridge Condo Association. He attended the First Methodist Church in Lancaster. He was a United States Air Force Vietnam Veteran. He enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling and his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Roberta E. "Bobbie" Anders Calihan, whom he married May 2, 1964, of the home; a daughter, Melissa (David) Skidmore of Lewis Center, Ohio; a son, Craig A. Calihan of Lancaster; 6 grandchildren, Sonya, Lewis, Timothy, Nicholas, Matthew and Zachary; two sisters, Shirley Calihan of Zanesville and Jean (Chuck) Wolford of Marysville, Ohio; two brothers-in-law, Gene (Dottie) Deffenbaugh of Warner Robbins, Georgia and Mark (Patty) Anders of Lancaster; three sisters-in-law, Bev (Ron) Wiles of Lancaster, Martha (Bob) Tilley of Zanesville and Tonya (Rick) Snider of Worthington, Ohio; and numerous other family members. Friends may call 2-4 & 6- 8 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2009 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville, where Lafayette Lodge #79 will hold services at 5:45 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2009 at the funeral home with Rev. Larry Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery. The United States Air Force in conjunction with VFW George Selsam Post #1058 will hold full military rites at the grave side. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Central Regional Office, 870 Michigan Ave., Columbus, Ohio, 43215.
