Patricia A. Newton, 80, of Merritt Island, Florida, formerly of Zanesville, Ohio, died early Tuesday, December 23, 2008 following a long illness. She was born September 19, 1928, in Zanesville, Ohio, a daughter of the late William and Mary V. Davis Geiger. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Surviving are three daughters, Sherry L. (Marc) Nusbaum of Pembroke Pines, Florida, Constance Paxson and son-in-law, Dr. Robert H. Paxson of Merritt Island, Florida and Mary Lisa Newton (Rick Tracey) of Zanesville; two sisters, Iris Masters of Cincinnati and Barbara Nader of York, Pennsylvania; 5 grandchildren, David W. Cosgrave of Zanesville, Ohio, Daniel A. (Becky) Cosgrave of Duncan Falls, Ohio, Deanna L. Cosgrave of Hollywood, Florida, Deborah L. (Leonard) Connors of Boca Raton, Florida and Nicholas J. Tracey of Zanesville; 9 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman L. (Red) Newton, who died in 1986 and two brothers, Ronald and Donald Geiger. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2008 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville, Ohio, where vigil services will be held at 2:00 p.m with Rev. Mr. B.N. Peterson officiating. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2008 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 925 Main St., Zanesville, Ohio, with Father Leo Connolly as celebrant. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
